Why do you get a "Site being installed" error page?
When you go to your website, you may see a web page indicating"Site being installed". This web page may be visible because of several things:
- You ordered the domain name less than an hour ago.
- If your website is online, this may be a problem with your browser's cache.
- You are trying to browse a page in HTTPS (SSL certificate) even though no certificate is installed.
Site page being installed following an order
The page tells you that the site is being installed. Once your order has been validated, it takes approximately 1 hour for your domain name and web space to be operational. While your service is being installed, a page will indicate that your site is currently being installed. The page disappears approximately one hour after the order has been validated.
Cache problem with your Chrome browser
If you have published your website and you still have this installation page, you need to clear your browser's cache and/or test with another Internet browser.
Here are the steps for clearing your Chrome browser's cache:
1. Click on the 3 small dots at the top right of your browser and then on the"Settings" tab.
2. Click on the "Settings" tab at the bottom of the page.
3. Click on"Delete browsing data".
4. Tick the"Cached images and files" box and then click on the"Delete data" button.
Firefox browser cache problem
1. Open the Firefox menu bar using the button at the top right of your web browser and click on the"Options" tab.
2 Click on the"Privacy and Security" tab and then on the"Empty Now" button in the"Cached Web Content" section.
Page error during installation on https
You may receive the"Site being installed" error if you are browsing your website using HTTPS rather than HTTP. This error is often caused by an SSL certificate that has not been installed or is in the process of being installed. You need to check that you have activated the SSL certificate. You can access the various stages of SSL certificate installation on the Let's Encrypt SSL certificate activation help page.
Conclusion
You now know why you are getting the"Site being installed" error. This problem is either due to an order placed recently (less than an hour ago) or a problem with your web browser's cache.
