What is a VPS server?

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is the equivalent of a dedicated server, without the technical hassle and at a much more affordable rental price.

What are the advantages of a VPS server?

VPS hosting lets you benefit from an affordable server while giving you the power and control of a dedicated server.

The advantages of a private server are as follows:

  • Customisation: With a VPS server, you get your own operating system. This also means you have your own instances such as Apache, PHP and MySQL. If you need to customise any of the services, this will be possible.
  • Control: If you're installing server applications that require a system reboot, you'll be able to do this at any time.
  • Dedicated resources: On a VPS server, you have dedicated RAM. Unlike shared hosting, no one else can use your RAM.

You can find out more about dedicated servers on our blog.

I took a VPS to test two types of sites in real life. 1. michnum.tf: html pages, call to cgi-bin in perl 2. jfcm.pro: root of a MediaWiki+Mailman farm. Where do I find the doc folder for this?

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately we don't offer this kind of package on our site.

In the near future, however, we will be offering packages based on KVM technology, which will enable you to install a Windows server.

I'd like to thank you for your attention, and remain at your disposal should you have any further questions or require additional information.

We invite you to contact our support department via your customer area, so that we can help you if you encounter any difficulties (Contact support).

Sincerely, The LWS Team
