Frequently asked questions

Why does the initial connection use HTTP and not HTTPS?

At this stage, your server is only accessible via its raw IP address on port 3000. SSL/TLS security certificates require a valid domain name, which will be configured in the next step via a DNS record.

Is my current data preserved during installation?

No. Applying the template fully resets the virtual hard drive of your VPS. All pre-existing data is permanently deleted.

What should I do if the page on port 3000 does not appear immediately?

Starting all of CapRover's Docker containers completely may take an additional one to two minutes after the task finishes in the panel. Wait a short while then refresh the page.

What DNS configuration should I prepare next?

To link your domain name to CapRover, you will need to create a generic wildcard A-type DNS entry, such as *.caprover.example.com pointing to your server's IP address.

Can I still administer my server via SSH command line?

Yes, your SSH key configured during installation remains operational and allows you to connect as the root administrator on your virtual machine.
