How to use the Nextcloud AIO KVM template

Why Nextcloud?

Nextcloud is an open-source collaboration and file-sharing platform. It lets you create your own private cloud to easily host, manage and synchronise your files, diaries, contacts and much more.

This template allows you to regain total control of your data while benefiting from a rich ecosystem of applications (such as Nextcloud Talk for videoconferencing, Calendar, Mail, Notes, or online document editing).

Nextcloud Server software is free and open-source, giving you a complete solution with no licence fees.

The Nextcloud AIO template

Nextcloud AIO (All-in-One) is a pre-configured, containerised solution that radically simplifies the deployment and maintenance of Nextcloud.

This template includes not only Nextcloud Server, but also all the essential components (such as the database, reverse proxy and additional services) in a single managed installation. This is the recommended method for achieving a complete and secure Nextcloud ecosystem with minimum effort.

Finish installation

Enter the URL provided in the delivery email into your server in a web browser (in the form https://vpsXXXXX.serveur-vps.net:8443), Nextcloud will automatically generate a valid SSL certificate, this may take 1 to 2 minutes. Once you have arrived on the main page, follow the steps below:

• Keep the given passphrase, then click on the link "Open Nextcloud AIO login" :
  

• Enter the passphrase and click on "Log in":
  

• For a new Nextcloud instance, enter a domain name pointing to your VPS (example: cloud.mydomain.com).
  If you don't have one, you can enter vpsXXXXX.serveur-vps.net (where XXXXX is the number of your VPS), then click on "Submit domain":
  

• Here you can choose the different components you want to install. Here is a quick description of the applications:

  • ClamAV: Antivirus engine. Scans the files you upload to block viruses (requires ~1GB extra RAM).
    
  • Collabora (Nextcloud Office): Online office suite. Allows you to edit documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) directly in your browser.
    
  • Fulltextsearch : Allows you to search for text inside your files (PDFs, documents, etc.), not just in the file names. (Requires ~1GB extra RAM and long indexing at start-up).
    
  • Imaginary: Generates previews (thumbnails) for specific image and document formats (HEIC/HEIF, PDF, SVG, TIFF...).
    
  • Nextcloud Talk: Chat, audio call and videoconferencing solution integrated into Nextcloud.
    
  • Nextcloud Talk Recording-server : Allows you to record your calls and videoconferences (Requires Nextcloud Talk and significant resources: ~1GB RAM and ~2 vCPUs).
    
  • OnlyOffice : Another online office suite (alternative to Collabora) for editing documents.
    
  • Docker Socket Proxy: Technical component required for certain advanced Nextcloud APIs. Leave it disabled unless you have a specific need for it.
    
  • Whiteboard: Adds a collaborative whiteboard application to draw and take notes with multiple people.
    
    
• Once you've made your choices, click on "Save changes":

• Then click on "Download and start containers". Installation can take between 5 and 10 minutes, or even a little longer depending on the applications requested.

• You will arrive on the application status page. Here you can configure your backup, change your AIO passphrase, etc. Some applications will be starting up (yellow circle). You can click on "Reload" to see the status:
  

• Once all applications have started, you will be given an initial admin password. Write it down somewhere and click on "Open your Nextcloud". Enter the login "admin" and password provided. Installation is now complete.
