In brief

All our VPS, KVM, dedicated servers, and Private Cloud services benefit from an LWS automatic backup policy: up to 4 daily backups, then 1 weekly backup for up to 1 month, stored on dedicated NAS. 20 GB of backup is included for free; beyond that, a paid option can be activated. Restoration is done on a case-by-case basis upon request to support, either for free or through managed services depending on the complexity of the work. You can also set up your own additional backups.

Applicable services

This backup policy applies to all our LWS server services: VPS, KVM, dedicated servers, and Private Cloud, regardless of the control panel or the operating system installed.

LWS Backup Policy

LWS automatically performs backups of your server's data, stored on separate NAS from your machine:

  • Up to 4 daily backups are kept (last 4 days)
  • After 4 days: 1 weekly backup is retained, limited to 1 month

This LWS retention policy is specific to server services, [ADDRESS]. [PERSON_NAME] shared web hosting ([PERSON_NAME] 3 months with the Business Option).

Included volume and complementary option

Each server comes with 20 GB of backup included for free. Beyond this threshold, a paid extended backup option [PERSON_NAME]. [PERSON_NAME] to enable this option, contact our support from your client area.

How to request a restoration?

To retrieve a previous version of your data from our backups, contact our support from your client area. Restoration is handled on a case-by-case basis: depending on the complexity of the work to be done, it may be handled for free or will require a managed services intervention. Our team will inform you of the conditions at the time of your request.

Complementary backups at your expense

In addition to the LWS backup policy, we strongly recommend setting up your own backups based on the criticality of your data. Several guides are available in the help center to configure manual or scheduled backups (snapshots, rsync scripts, BorgBackup, ISPConfig backups, etc.).

Physical protection of the infrastructure

  • The backup storage infrastructure is fully in RAID. The replacement of a failing disk is transparent.
  • Backups are stored on separate NAS from your server — protection in case of hardware failure of the host machine.
  • Data centers located in France, certified ISO 27001, GDPR compliance.

Retention after termination

Frequently asked questions

Does my server benefit from an LWS automatic backup?

Yes. All our server services (VPS, KVM, dedicated servers, [ADDRESS]) automatically benefit from the LWS backup policy: 4 daily + 1 weekly backups for up to 1 month, within the limit of the 20 GB included for free.

What happens if my server exceeds 20 GB of data to back up?

Beyond 20 GB, you can activate a paid extended backup option. Contact support from your client area for more information on activation and pricing.

How to request a restoration?

From your client area, open a request to support specifying your server, [ADDRESS] the desired backup date, and the scope to be restored (entirety, specific file, database, etc.). Our team will inform you whether the handling is free or requires a managed services intervention depending on the complexity.

What is the restoration time?

The time depends on the volume to be processed and the queue for the restoration service. Our team will provide an estimate when handling your request.

Can I create my own backups in addition?

Yes, we highly recommend it. Several guides are available in the help center to set up your own backups (snapshots, rsync scripts, BorgBackup, native modules of control panels, etc.).

Are my backups replicated in case of a disk failure?

Yes. The storage infrastructure is fully in RAID. Our technical team replaces failing disks without interruption or data loss.

What happens to my backups after the termination of my server?

The backups are retained in accordance with the applicable regulations (GDPR and French legal obligations). For details, see our T&Cs.
