Service concerned : email addresses included with a domain or LWS Panel hosting plan and Mail Pro addresses
Panel concerned : LWS Panel
Level : beginner
The quota of an email address corresponds to the space available to store its messages and attachments. From the LWS Panel, you can check the space used and change the capacity of a mailbox depending on your plan and the available Mail Pro options.
This help article applies both to addresses included with a domain name or LWS Panel hosting plan and to Mail Pro addresses.
This help article applies to addresses managed from the LWS Panel.
Do you manage your addresses from cPanel? See: How do I change the quota of an email address in cPanel?
The capacity of an address depends on the service it is attached to.
| Email address type | Storage space |
|---|---|
| Address included with a Domain plan | 1 GB |
| Address included with LWS Panel hosting | 2 GB |
| Mail Pro S | 10 GB |
| Mail Pro M | 20 GB |
| Mail Pro L | 50 GB |
| Mail Pro XL | 100 GB |
| Mail Pro XL2 | 200 GB |
A Mail Pro address increases the storage of a specific mailbox. You can order a single Mail Pro address or order several depending on your needs.
The options displayed in the LWS Panel depend on the Mail Pro quotas already available on your service.
The Mail Pro XL and XL2 offers are not offered directly on the LWS website. They can only be ordered from the LWS Panel.
You must therefore already have a domain name, LWS Panel hosting, or a Mail Pro service in your account.
If you are using a Domain plan, you can upgrade to an LWS Panel hosting plan to benefit from email addresses with 2 GB of storage.
The procedure for changing plans is explained in the help article: How do I change my shared hosting plan from my LWS client area?
If you want to keep your current plan or further increase the capacity of a single mailbox, you can order one or more Mail Pro addresses from the LWS Panel.
See: How do I order one or more Mail Pro addresses from the LWS Panel?
If a Mail Pro address of the desired type is already available on your service, you can assign it directly to an existing mailbox by changing its quota.
You can also order several Mail Pro offers at once, then assign them to the mailboxes of your choice. This is useful when you manage many mailboxes.

In the list of your email addresses, check the space currently used by the mailbox concerned.
The quota actually applied to a mailbox is shown in the Quota column of the Summary & management of your Emails table. For example, “10,003 / 20,000 MB” means that the mailbox is using about 10 GB out of the 20 GB assigned to it.
To reduce an address quota, the space used must be lower than the new capacity selected.

For example, a mailbox containing 12 GB of messages cannot be limited to 10 GB. You must first delete messages or archive them on your computer.
To assign a Mail Pro quota, also make sure that a Mail Pro address of the desired type is available. If the counter shows zero, you must first place an order. You can do this directly from the mailbox Quota window, as explained below.
1. Access email management
Log in to your LWS client area, then open the management area for the domain name, hosting plan or Mail Pro service concerned.
Then go to the email address management section.

2. Select the address to modify
Find the relevant address in the list.

In the corresponding column, click Actions, then Quota.
3. Choose the new capacity
Select the desired quota from the list provided.
You can only choose:

If the desired quota does not appear, check the Mail Pro availability shown above or near the list of addresses. To get a larger offer, follow the “Order a Mail Pro offer from the Quota window” section below.
4. Save the change
Click Save to apply the new quota.
If you assign a Mail Pro address to the mailbox, the number of available Mail Pro offers is automatically updated.

If your mailbox needs more space than what the list offers, order a larger Mail Pro offer, then assign it to the mailbox once delivered.
In the table of your email addresses, click Actions on the mailbox row, then Quota.
Click the Increase quota to the higher offer link, then order and pay for the desired Mail Pro offer (the capacities of each offer are reminded in the table at the top of this help article).
Once the offer is delivered, you will receive a confirmation email. Then return to the LWS Panel to assign it to the mailbox.
Reopen Actions > Quota on the mailbox, choose the new offer in the Mailbox quota list, then click Save.
If you have purchased several offers in a single order, repeat the last step for each mailbox to enlarge. The “Remaining mailboxes” mention in the list decreases with each assignment.
Return to the list of your email addresses and find the modified mailbox.
The new capacity should appear next to the address, in the Quota column: for example “0 / 20,000 MB” for a mailbox switched to Mail Pro M (20 GB).

The quota is correctly applied when the new capacity is displayed in the email address management list.
The desired quota does not appear in the list
No Mail Pro address of this capacity is probably available on your service.
Check the Mail Pro counters displayed in the LWS Panel. If necessary, order a new Mail Pro address before trying the change again, for example with the Increase quota to the higher offer link in the Quota window.
The Quota window shows a different offer from my mailbox
This is normal: the list in the Quota window shows the capacities you can assign, not the mailbox’s current one. Close the window without saving and read the applied quota in the Quota column of the addresses table.
I cannot reduce the mailbox quota
The mailbox is probably using more space than the requested capacity.
Delete messages that are no longer needed, empty the Trash and Spam folders, or archive some messages on your computer. Then try the change again.
The XL and XL2 offers are not proposed on the LWS website
These two capacities are only available from the LWS Panel. Open an existing service in your account, then go to the Mail Pro address order.
The quota change option is not available
Check that the address concerned is indeed an email mailbox that can receive and view messages.
An email forwarding address transfers messages to another address, but does not have its own storage mailbox. Therefore, no quota can be assigned to it.
On a Standard mailbox included with your plan, the Actions menu may also not offer the Quota entry. In this case, open a support request from your client area indicating the address concerned and the desired space: our team will tell you how to enlarge it.
The old quota is still displayed
Make sure you clicked Save, then refresh the page.
If the desired quota uses a Mail Pro address, also check that the corresponding order is validated and attached to the same service. A delivered offer still needs to be chosen in the mailbox Quota window, then saved.
