Backup policy for your shared hosting (web, MySQL, emails)

Procédure

In brief

[PERSON_NAME] shared web hosting benefits from automatic daily backups covering your web files, your MySQL databases (if applicable), and your emails. Backups are systematically performed for all offers — what varies according to your service level is the ability to restore these backups independently from your LWS Panel. There are two levels: [PERSON_NAME] free (self-service restoration up to 1 month, hosting up to 20 GB) and Business Option (self-service restoration up to 3 months, no size limit). Beyond this, an intervention by support remains possible.

What are automatic backups?

Automatic backups are performed continuously for all our hosting plans, regardless of your service level. They are designed to allow you to return to a previous state in case of error, accidental deletion, hacking, or software failure.

The technical characteristics are identical for all clients:

  • One backup per day
  • Hot backup — your site remains fully accessible during the operation
  • Storage on a dedicated NAS, separate from your hosting server
  • The storage infrastructure is entirely in RAID — replacing a failing disk is seamless

What is backed up based on your offer

The content of the backups depends on what exists on your hosting:

Offer [PERSON_NAME] web MySQL Databases Emails
Domain Plan Yes
(no database on this offer)
Yes
Personal Hosting Yes Yes Yes
Starter Hosting Yes Yes Yes
Standard Hosting Yes Yes Yes
Performance Hosting Yes Yes Yes

[ADDRESS] backup is identical for the [ADDRESS], Starter, Standard, and Performance plans.

When are they performed and how long are they kept?

The frequency and retention are also the same for all clients:

  • The last 7 daily backups are retained
  • Beyond 7 days: 1 weekly backup, retained for several months as needed for restoration

You always have about ten versions over 1 month, or up to twenty over 3 months depending on your restoration service level (see next section).

What varies according to your service level: restoration

Since the backups are the same for everyone, it is the capacity to restore these backups independently that distinguishes the free [PERSON_NAME] and the Business Option.

  [PERSON_NAME] free Business Option
Price Included with your hosting On subscription from the customer area
Self-service restoration from the [ADDRESS] Panel Up to 1 month (daily + weekly) Up to 3 months (daily + weekly)
Size limit for self-service Hosting up to 20 GB No size limit
Versions accessible in self-service About 10 versions over 1 month About 19 versions over 3 months
Beyond these conditions Restoration possible via support intervention from your customer area

The activation of the Business Option is retroactive: if you activate it today, your existing backups are retained for up to 3 months from their creation date, without any additional action on your part.

Hosting over 20 GB

If your hosting exceeds 20 GB, self-service restoration via the LWS Panel is not available in free Basic Backups — backups are then reserved for internal LWS use. However, you can trigger a restoration through support intervention from your customer area. To have self-service restoration without a size limit, we recommend subscribing to the Business Option.

Retention after cancellation

[PERSON_NAME] upon cancellation of your hosting, the backups are retained in accordance with the regulations in force (European GDPR and French legal obligations allowing, in particular, compliance with court requisitions). For details, please consult our T&Cs — data retention section.

How does [PERSON_NAME] back up?

Three restoration modes are available according to [PERSON_NAME]:

1. Self-service restoration via LWS Panel

Available based on your service level (up to 1 month in Basic free, up to 3 months in Business Option). The procedure varies depending on the type of data to restore:

The average restoration time is a few minutes. It may extend to several hours depending on the volume to be processed and the number of simultaneous restorations in the queue.

2. Additional manual backup (before intervention)

Before any major modification, we recommend performing a manual backup of your data:

3. Support intervention

To restore a backup beyond the self-service conditions (longer retention, hosting over 20 GB in Basic, specific backup search, complex partial restoration...), you can trigger a support intervention from your customer area. Our technical team will assist you.
