How to activate catch-all on your LWS mail service?

Catch-all allows you to receive messages sent to an non-existent address on your domain. For example, if the address [EMAIL] does not exist, the message can still be received in an e-mail inbox you have chosen.

This feature can be useful to avoid losing a message because of a typo in the recipient’s address. However, it should be used with caution, as [PERSON_NAME] received.

Before you begin

Before activating catch-all, you must have an existing e-mail inbox where messages will be received.

Catch-all receives messages sent to all non-existent addresses on your domain. This can greatly increase the amount of unwanted messages received. [ADDRESS] and monitor its storage space.

Activate catch-all

  1. Log in to your LWS customer area.
  2. Go to the domain management or the relevant mail service.
  3. Click E-mails in the E-mail addresses section, depending on the display shown in your customer area.

  4. Find the e-mail address that should receive the catch-all messages.
  5. Click the Action button on the line for that address.

  6. Select Catch All.
  7. Click Activate to confirm enabling catch-all on this address.

Catch-all is active when messages sent to a non-existent address on your domain arrive in the chosen e-mail inbox.

Check that catch-all works

To verify the configuration, send a test message to an address that does not exist on your domain.

Example: if your domain is votredomaine.com, you can send a message to an address such as:

[EMAIL]

Wait a few minutes, [PERSON_NAME] catch-all. The message should arrive in this inbox.

Use a truly non-existent address to perform the test. [PERSON_NAME] already exists, the message will be received by that address and not by catch-all.

Disable catch-all

You can disable catch-all at any time if you no longer want to receive messages sent to non-existent addresses on your domain.

  1. From your LWS customer area, go to the domain management or the relevant mail service.
  2. Click E-mails in the E-mail addresses section.

  3. Find the e-mail address on which catch-all is enabled.
  4. Click Action.

  5. Select Catch All.
  6. Click Disable to remove the catch-all feature from this address.

After deactivation, messages sent to non-existent addresses on your domain will no longer be received by this inbox. However, e-mail addresses already created will continue to work normally.

Common issues

[PERSON_NAME] All

Make sure [PERSON_NAME] of the relevant service. Depending on your plan or interface, [PERSON_NAME] can be found in the Action menu for the e-mail address.

If you use cPanel, the procedure is different: catch-all is configured from the Default Address tool.

The test message does not arrive

First check that the message was indeed sent to a non-existent address on your domain.

Then check the e-mail inbox chosen for catch-all, including the junk mail folder. If your domain uses external mail servers or a custom DNS configuration, the catch-all configured at LWS will only work if the domain’s e-mails are [PERSON_NAME] LWS.

I receive a lot of spam since activation

This is a possible effect of catch-all. [PERSON_NAME] non-existent addresses of your domain [PERSON_NAME], some unwanted messages may also arrive in your inbox.

You can strengthen spam filtering, regularly delete unnecessary messages, or disable catch-all if you no longer need it.

Le bouton catch all ne marche pas chez moi et voudrais solliciter votre aide.

Bonjour, la fonction catch-all s'active en vous rendant sur votre espace client LWS, cliquez sur "Gérer" se trouvant derrière la formule concernée puis sur "Administrations emails". Cliquez ensuite sur "Actions" puis sur "Catch-all" se trouvant derrière l'adresse email. cochez la case d'activation et cliquez ensuite sur le bouton "Enregistrer" afin de valider l'enregistrement de ce paramètre. Il vous est ensuite possible de tester en envoyant un email à une adresse inexistante de votre nom de domaine pour vérifier son fonctionnement.
