Create and manage a mailbox

A standard mailbox has its own inbox, password, and storage space. It can be accessed from the [PERSON_NAME] webmail in an email client.

Depending on the action to be performed, see the corresponding help:

Deleting a mailbox permanently deletes the messages it contains. Back up important emails before starting the deletion.

Choose how to receive messages

Several solutions allow [PERSON_NAME] messages sent to your domain name.

Solution What is it for?
Standard mailbox It stores messages and can be accessed with a password.
Simple forwarding [PERSON_NAME] forwards messages to another address, without creating an inbox at LWS.
Alias It adds another address to an existing mailbox. Messages arrive in the main mailbox.
Catch-all It retrieves messages sent to non-existent addresses on your domain.

To compare the different forwarding methods, see: Which email forwarding should you choose?.

Create a simple forwarding rule

Use simple forwarding when you want to receive messages on an existing address, without creating a new mailbox at LWS.

A simple forwarding rule does not have an inbox. No copy of the message is kept on the LWS mail service.

[PERSON_NAME] an alias

An alias is an additional address associated with an existing mailbox. It does not have its own password or its own inbox.

For example, messages sent to [EMAIL] can arrive [ADDRESS] [EMAIL].

Enable catch-all

Catch-all allows messages sent to a non-existent address on your domain to be received in a defined mailbox.

It can, for example, retrieve a message sent to [EMAIL] instead of [EMAIL].

Catch-all also retrieves many messages automatically sent to non-existent addresses. It can therefore increase the amount of spam received and fill up [ADDRESS] more quickly.

Send messages to multiple recipients

A mailing list allows you to use a single address to send a message to multiple recipients.

It can be useful for a team, an association, or a work group. However, [PERSON_NAME] does not replace a standard mailbox: [PERSON_NAME] sends messages to the members of the list.

[PERSON_NAME] : How do you manage [PERSON_NAME] effectively?.

Manage storage space and limits

Each mailbox has storage space. When this space is fully used, the mailbox may no longer receive new messages.

Before increasing a mailbox quota, check whether large, old, or unnecessary messages can [PERSON_NAME]. Also remember to empty the trash from the webmail.

Track sending, receiving, and logins

The LWS Panel allows you to view several useful histories to understand a reception problem, verify the sending of a message, or detect an unusual login.

This information can notably help you know whether a message was accepted, refused, or delayed, and whether an address was used from an unknown device or IP address.

Check your messages with Roundcube
